FOCUS ON A MEMBER


Carol at Work

Name: Carol Weitering
Birthday : January 12
Birth Place: Rotterdam, The Netherlands
Where I Live: West Knoxville
Family: husband, Hanno; son, Bart, a senior in high school; and daughter, Henneke, a sophomore in high school
Education: BS in Nutrition, Diploma Degree in Nursing (NL). Had to take the boards to become an RN in the States.
How I got interested in Oncology Nursing: I have always had a strong affection for oncology nursing; when I applied for a job at Baptist, I was interviewed for the oncology floor; I felt I could learn a lot (and I did!!).
How long been in nursing/oncology nursing: 20+/-
How long I have been a member of ONS: 1994
What I like best about oncology nursing: I think it is fascinating to see all the changes in treatments; there is still so much to be researched and discovered.
What do I like least about oncology nursing:  Losing patients…….
I am working on: My hospice certification
My idea of a good time: Is having good food with good friends
Community clubs, service organizations, etc. that you participate in: I am a member of IFCOT (International Friends Club of Tennessee). We meet once or twice a month. Also, treasurer of TN Valley ONS.
What I want you to know/remember about me: That I am dedicated to my patients
Include anything else you would like to add: I have passed the test on US History and recently took the oath and am now a US CITIZEN!!!!
